Drexel Receives $10 Million Gift For Local Outreach In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Drexel University has received a $10 million gift to create a community outreach center near its campus in Philadelphia.
The school announced the donation from Dana and David Dornsife on Thursday.
The funds will help establish the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, which will primarily serve residents of the city's Mantua and Powelton Village neighborhoods.
School officials say offerings will include wellness programs, a computer center, homework help and a free law clinic.
Dana Dornsife received her bachelor's degree in business from Drexel. She is the founder, president and CEO of the Lazarex Cancer Foundation.
David Dornsife is chairman of a California-based steel company. Last year, the couple gave $200 million to his alma mater, the University of Southern California.
