Drexel Readies For Tough Task Vs. Davidson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 3-7 Drexel Dragons will return to the court on Saturday night as they host Davidson at the DAC.
The Dragons already have as many losses this season as they did last season when they won 29 games. Surprisingly, one of the big problems for Drexel this season has been defense. Usually a staple of Drexel teams, the Dragons are allowing opponents to shoot 47.3% from the field and score 68 points a game. Compare that with last season, when Drexel held opponents to 39.2% shooting and 56.1 points a contest.
"We are just in bad position," Drexel head coach Bruiser Flint tells KYW Newsradio about his team's play on defense. "We're not playing as a team. We're hugging our men, we're not swarming to the ball like we used to. If we get beat, we start just standing next to our guy and not letting our guy score - but defense is played as a team and you've got to play it together. And we haven't done that this year."
And Flint says things aren't going to get any easier.
"I think our next two games could possibly be the two best teams we've played on our schedule to this point with Davidson and St. Joe's (New Year's Eve)," Flint says.

First off is the match-up with Davidson on Saturday night. The Wildcats are 6-4 and winners of three of their last four games.
"They've got five guys on the floor that can score the ball for them," Flint says. "So we've got to be ready to play defensively."
The numbers back Flint up as Davidson has seven players averaging at least 7.5 points a game.
Sophomore guard Damion Lee paces the Dragons on offense at 17.6 points a game.
Drexel and Davidson will tip-off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
