Drexel Opens Four-Game Homestand Thursday vs. ODU

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Drexel Dragons will play their next four games in the cozy confines of the DAC, starting with Thursday night's CAA match-up with Old Dominion.
The Dragons are 9-13 (5-5 in the CAA) and they are coming off a 59-52 loss at Northeastern on Saturday.
A problem as of late for the Dragons has been slow starts. In their last three games they have trailed 25-9 (Delaware), 33-13 (George Mason) and 10-0 (Northeastern).
"We've just got to come more ready to play," Drexel head coach Bruiser Flint tells KYW Newsradio. "I thought we turned the ball over a little bit in both games (George Mason and Northeastern) early, which gave them some easy baskets. When we settled down from turning the ball over, we sort of creeped ourselves back into both games last week."
Drexel actually rallied to win the George Mason game, and only lost to Delaware by two.

Now on Thursday night, the Dragons will host a team in turmoil. The Monarchs are a woeful 2-20 and earlier this week they fired their head coach Blaine Taylor, who was the winningest coach in program history.
"They'll still play the same way (stylewise)," Flint says. "They're still going to do the same things. Jim Corrigan who took over for him has been his assistant for a long time. So they're definitely going to play the same way."
Flint says his team can't focus on ODU's record.
"I know they've struggled this year, but they haven't struggled to the point where they are getting blown out," Flint says. "They are in every game. They've had trouble scoring this year, so they have trouble sustaining drives and things like that. But they are in it until the end. They are another team that's been going down to the wire, losing games by 6,7,8 points because they just don't have enough scoring."
This is the first of two meetings this season between these two teams. The second will be on February 28th down in Norfolk, Virginia.
Drexel and Old Dominion will tip-off at 7:00pm on Thursday night.
