Drexel Makes Always Tough Trip To George Mason
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After seeing their three-game winning streak snapped on Monday night at the hands of rival Delaware, the Drexel Dragons will take to the road on Thursday to visit George Mason.
The Dragons lost to the Blue Hens, 66-64. They actually trailed in that one 64-49 with 4:22 left, but then went on a furious 15-1 run to pull to within a point. However, they never were able to get over the hump, and fell to 8-12 on the season (3-4 in the CAA).
"Delaware helped us out a little bit, they missed some foul shots, they turned the ball over, they gave us a chance," Drexel head coach Bruiser Flint tells KYW Newsradio. "But we just weren't able to close it. We've played a lot of games like that this season, therefore, that's why our record is what it is."

That loss to Delaware also stemmed the momentum the Dragons' three-game winning streak had built up.
"I thought we were playing defense much better, we were playing with way more energy (during the winning streak)," Flint says. "Guys were out there doing the things we needed to do. Then we sort of reverted back (Monday) night against Delaware. It's a little disappointing what happened."
It won't get any easier on Thursday night down in Fairfax, Virginia. The Dragons will take on a 12-8 George Mason team that is coming off a 71-51 spanking at the hands of CAA pacesetter Northeastern last time out.
"I've had some serious nightmares down there," Flint says. "They play really well at home. They've been pressing (defensively) a little bit more. They're probably the deepest team in the league. They probably play 11 players. So, it hasn't been fun for us down there at times and we know it's going to be a tough game."
This will be the first of two meetings between these conference rivals this season. The second will be at the DAC on Valentine's Day.
Drexel and George Mason tip-off on Thursday at 7:00pm.
