Drexel Hosts Discussion On Challenges Of Alternatively Fueled Vehicles

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - This Thursday at Drexel University, the public is invited to a discussion of alternatively fueled vehicles being hosted by the Public Utility Commission.
PUC spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher says the Public Utility Commission recognizes that alternatively fueled vehicles are coming. But widespread use of natural gas or electric powered cars presents challenges.
"Our goal is to look at policies and frameworks that we can develop for refueling stations, and the required infrastructure for natural gas and electric."
One concern, she says, is the strain electric cars might create on the power grid.
"We certainly don't want to sacrifice reliability in electricity in order to charge cars."
Members of the public are invited to attend the forum that starts at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Portrait Gallery of the Main Building of Drexel University, 3141 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.
