Board Chairman Patrick O'Connor, in a letter to the Temple community, praised Theobald's work as a teacher, researcher and for role in managing Indiana's $3 billion budget.
Temple Staff, faculty and students can meet with Theobald on campus Monday evening and Tuesday morning. If the board approves, he will begin working January 1st of next year.
Until then, acting President Richard Englert will remain on the job.
