Doylestown Honda Says Production Not Affected By Earthquake In Japan
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Earlier this week, Honda Motor Company warned U.S. dealers that it will run short of popular models like the Civic because of parts shortages caused by Japan's March 11th earthquake.
Honda says it will cut production of the new Civic and other models because its running low on Japanese imports of chips, sensors and other parts. Power outages in the quake-ravaged country are being blamed, but at Keenan Honda in Doylestown, General Manager Kevin Post says he isn't alarmed. He has an ample supply of vehicles for at least the next six months.
"We still have plenty of cars to sell. In fact, we have very close to typical levels right now. There may be some certain or specific colors or a specific trim level that we may be a little shorter on; however we still have hundreds of cars on our lots to sell."
KYW Newsradio reporter asked, "So what about parts for repairs? Any problem there?"
"Absolutely not, no problem with parts for renowned cars, our service customers or any other customer that we may have."
