Doylestown Dog Park Closer To Becoming A Reality
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A more than two-year effort to bring a dog park to Doylestown, Bucks County has taken a big leap forward with two significant donations that will help make the dream a reality.
The Friends of the Doylestown Dog Park has raised more than half of the $150,000 needed to develop and maintain the park. A Bucks County resident who wants to remain anonymous kicked in $50,000 and a local veterinarian chipped in another $10,000.
Fundraising chair Kelcey Meadows-Lucas says they're hoping to have the three-acre park at Turk and Almshouse roads open by this fall.
"People have such a bond with their dogs and you know they want to get exercise. They want to be outdoors. They want to be with their friends, but they also want to include their dogs," Meadows-Lucas said.
Meadows-Lucas adds that there will be three sections; one for large dogs, one for smaller dogs and a third they will rent out for dog shows agility contests and other activities to help generate money to keep the park going.
