Don't Give Up On New Year's Resolutions
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is one day after New Year's and how many of you have kept to your resolutions? Don't worry. I can't hear you -- you can be honest.
I know I sound a bit facetious but I am actually making an important point. We do it every year. We make resolutions and then we drop them as soon as we break the resolution.
The key to doing well is to realize that we all stumble and fall and to look at the actual resolution and maintain the attempt to reach the goal.
There is a reason that we made these decisions in the first place: we were trying to lose weight or increase the amount of exercise we are doing. So, just because you skipped a day it is not worth waiting another year before you start again.
Take a New Year's resolution for what it is worth - an attempt to make a lifestyle change. This can be done any time of the year. Don't give up.
