Donors Respond To Victims of Levittown Apartment Complex Fire

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- There has been a tremendous outpouring of support from Delaware Valley residents who are donating clothes and other items to the nearly 100 victims of Friday night's devastating apartment fire in Levittown, Bucks County.
This morning, the parking lot of the Walter Miller Elementary School was filled with cars and trucks loaded down with bags of clothing and other supplies for the people burned out of their homes at the Racquet Club Apartments (see related story).
Inside the school's gymnasium, more than three dozen volunteers were sorting through the items which will help those residents get back on their feet.
"What I'm currently feeling is an overwhelming sense of gratitude to everybody for just jumping in and getting dirty and stepping up to help these people when they need it," says Rachel Collins of her fellow volunteers.

Missy Kitzmiller volunteered her home over the weekend as a dropoff point for people who couldn't make it to the school.
"It was so close to home," Kitzmiller explains. "It affected our kids from our schools in our community, and it could happen to any of us."
Donations of personal items like toiletries and detergents and new or gently used clothing will be accepted at the Walter Miller Elementary School in Levittown until 6pm tonight.
The Red Cross is also encouraging people to make a financial donation to assist the displaced residents (see related story).
