Dog Found With Severely Lacerated Neck Finds New Home

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) -- A dog was found in an Upper Darby home in March, with a severely lacerated neck. Delaware County SPCA officials say the dog was tied to the banister in the home with cable wire, which the six-month-old Shepherd-Pit Bull Terrier mix managed to chew her way out of.

"We're lucky that she didn't decapitate herself, starve to death, or both," said Humane Society Police Officer Ron Riggle. He rescued Clover from the home.
Now, she has a new home. Delco SPCA staff named her Clover.
Gail Bruce and her family adopted Clover on Sunday afternoon. The family is from Wilmington, De.
In the month since her rescue, Clover has undergone extensive multiple neck reconstructive surgeries, performed by Dr. Kim Boudwin, the Delco SPCA Director of Veterinary Medicine.
The Delco SPCA said that animal cruelty charges against Clover's previous owner are pending.
