Doctor Offers Tips For Parents Dealing With Picky Eaters

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Getting toddlers to eat healthy foods can make you crazy, but there are tips that may help.
Introducing new foods to a toddler can be quite a challenge, so start early and be patient, it could take longer than you think according to Dr. Deborah Sandrock a pediatrician at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
"Introducing one new food with a meal that they've already experienced sometimes helps and keep in mind that it might take introducing 10-15 times before a child will actually accept it."
Use child sized plates and don't overload them, children can get overwhelmed with too much food and too many choices.
If you're trying to introduce a new food at a meal when he's just not hungry, don't push it, tomorrow is another day.
