Distinctly Dressed Felon In Wilmington Arrested With Firearms And Drugs
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS)--An armed suspect found out the hard way that wearing a distinctive shirt made him an easy target for police, who were responding to a disturbance in the center city area.
On September 10th, at approximately 11:42 p.m. officers were dispatched to a 911 call. When police arrived at the scene they found a large disorderly crowd and began foot patrols to disperse them.
An officer and his K-9 partner were flagged down by a concerned citizen,who informed them that a male suspect wearing a pink shirt was armed with a handgun and standing in a crowd in the 500 block of N. Jefferson Street.
The officer noticed that the suspect, Charles Blackshear, was the only person in the crowd wearing a pink shirt.
The officer notified another policeman in the area and together they stopped Blackshear, and confiscated a loaded .40 caliber gun. Officers also located 9.5 grams of marijuana and seized $1,277 in suspected drug money.
Blackshear, a convicted felon for a weapons offense, was arraigned and committed to a correctional institution in lieu of $23,500 secured bail.
