Students Return After Graffiti Prompts Evacuation At Lenape High School

MEDFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- A Burlington County high school was evacuated for several hours Thursday after the discovery of suspicious graffiti inside a bathroom, school officials said.
The incident happened at Lenape High School on Hartford Road in Medford.
According to a press release from the school, the graffiti was discovered in one of the bathrooms at about 8:45 a.m. and consisted of a non-specific threat.
The Medford Police Department was then called to the school and assisted with an evacuation of the school.
School officials say parents were informed of the incident through email, voicemail and the school's website.
Medford Police officers, along with the Canine Task Force, searched the interior of the school.
During the evacuation, students and staff were safely evacuated to their assigned outdoor school security locations.
After a thorough search of the school, it was determined that the building was safe for reentry at about 11:45 a.m.
A student on the school's website said students will continue with classes on a modified schedule. All lunch periods will be held and students will be dismissed at their normal time. All after-school activities will continue as scheduled.
The investigation into the suspicious graffiti is ongoing.
