Dion Waiters Says He Never Asked To Be Traded To The Sixers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The NBA rumor mill is hot right now, and the Sixers seem to be involved in almost every one of them.
There have been several media reports that the Sixers could be involved in trade for the Rockets' Omer Asik (either directly or as a third team), as well as several rumors involving Thaddeus Young, Spencer Hawes and Omer Asik.
A two-week old rumor involving Turner and the Cavs' Dion Waiters, who is from South Philadelphia, got new life yesterday when a report suggested Waiters' preference is to be traded to the Sixers.
"According to a source close to Waiters," the report says. "He "wants out" of Cleveland and "prefers to go to Philly because he thinks he'd be the best player on the team. That's his mindset."
Waiters flatly denied the report on Tuesday night.
"Why would I do that?" Waiters said to the Sporting News. "It doesn't make sense. This is the team that drafted me. People come up with their own things, man. I know what I said and what I didn't say. That's one of the things I absolutely never said."
"I was asleep. I don't know what's going on. My phone's blowing up. The way my phone was going crazy, I thought I got traded."
