Dick Vermeil: 'I'm A Believer In Nick Foles'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The defense has improved, the pass rush is suddenly elite, the coaching continues to dominate, the offense is highly ranked, and the special teams unit is second to none. The only major question mark surrounding the 5-1 Philadelphia Eagles is at the most important position in sports---quarterback.
Can Nick Foles be the guy? Can he win a Super Bowl?
"I watch it as a fan rather than as a coach," former Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil told Angelo Cataldi on the 94WIP Morning Show. "I'm a believer in Nick [Foles] now, and I was little skeptical at first if he was gonna be the guy, but after watching him last year and watching him do certain thing this year, I believe he can [be the guy] and I think Chip [Kelly] is the guy that can take advantage of his skills. I don't think throwing the ball as accurately down field right now, maybe because he's not getting the kind of protection he's gotten in the past and I think that's gradually going to improve as the offensive line comes back together."

Vermeil says Foles 25, may be in the process of better understanding progressions and reading defenses. Vermeil says the third-year quarterback will improve in this area as he continues to grow as an NFL quarterback.
"Plus, the defensive coordinators has seen his scheme now for a year, now almost a year and a half," Vermeil said on Friday morning. "And these guys do things to maybe, now I'm not saying this is true, go to a different receiver and not automatically get to the guy he really wanted to get to in the first place. And sometimes it takes you awhile to throw as accurately to the third guy in a scheme or a pattern, than it does to the first guy, and it takes experience to do that."
