Despite The Hassle, Many People Will Still Be Dining Out For Valentine's Day
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Valentine's Day is this Friday, which means many people will be scrambling to make restaurant reservations.
According to a new survey from Zagat, V-Day remains one of the nation's busiest days for restaurants – despite 54% of people saying that they either stay home and cook or don't celebrate at all.
Meanwhile, the majority (43%) of the 42% who do go out say they'll be trying somewhere new this year, while 22% plan to stick with an "old favorite."
And although plenty of people will be opting for a romantic dinner (preferably by candlelight), many say they'd rather not celebrate the "holiday" on Feb. 14th. Fifty-six-percent said they'd rather go out for Valentine's Day on another day.
There's no word on whether or not the fact that V-Day falls on a Friday will impact diners' plans this year.
While the survey also delves into opinions on going Dutch (still a no-no, apparently) and how much PDA is acceptable at the dinner table, perhaps the most interesting tidbit has to do with marriage.
Of those Zagat polled, a whopping 73% said proposing at a restaurant is cheesy. So if you were planning on dropping to one knee at the dinner table, you should probably think again.
