Departing Rowan President Lands Similar Job In Rhode Island
GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS) - The departing president of Rowan University has found another job in New England.
Donald Farish came to terms with Rowan on an early end to his five-year contract with a payout of $600,000. Come July 1st, he'll trade his 13 year run in Glassboro for a similar position at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.
"They value diverse people and diverse ideas," Farish said. "They celebrate intellectual achievement. They expect civic responsibility. They're values that I share, so I simply found myself in harmony with what it was that they stated they were seeking in a president."
Farish had also applied for positions with several other schools, including the presidency at the University of Maine, and he weighed a pair of job offers before settling on this one.
Rowan is conducting a nationwide search for his replacement.
