Delco Man Sentenced In Another Flim-Flam Case

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (CBS) -- A disbarred lawyer from Delaware County will spend at least eleven months behind bars for stealing from his deceased clients.

George Guyer Young III (above) pleaded guilty late last year to multiple felony theft counts in connection with an unclaimed property scam.  Prosecutors say the 49-year-old Newtown Square man filed claims with the Pennsylvania Treasury Department on behalf of his deceased clients and their estates but in many cases transferred the money to his personal account.

Delaware County DA Mike Green says Young has now been sentenced to 11 to just under 24 months in the county jail.

"It's disgraceful to me and it brings disgrace on the profession itself when any attorney engages in this kind of conduct," Green said.  "It's absolutely abhorrent."

Prosecutors say some of the approximately $50,000 was used to make restitution in a federal case where he stole from the accounts of disabled veterans.  He was disbarred in 2004 after pleading guilty in that case.
