Delaware County Man Accused In String of Stickups Across Suburbs
ABINGTON, Pa. (CBS) - A Delaware County, Pa. man is behind bars after he was arrested late Friday for robbing a dry cleaning store. Police say he's wanted by several police departments throughout the suburbs.
According to Deputy Police Chief John Livingood, an alert Abington police officer stopped Stephen Moore's car after he allegedly held up the Green Clean Cleaners in Elkins Park.
Livingood says the 29-year-old Boothwyn man walked into the cleaners, announced a holdup, and then fled with some money.
"When he was arrested, in his pocket he had a small silver cigarette lighter that is shaped like a handgun and very much resembled a handgun, and he said that is what he used in the robbery," Livingood told KYW Newsradio..
Livingood says a database check on Moore showed that he is wanted in numerous municipalities throughout the area including Lower Moreland, Upper Chichester, Cheltenham, Ridley, and Lower Merion, where he allegedly held up another dry cleaners earlier Friday.
Moore was being held in the Montgomery County jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
