Delaware Woman Struck And Killed By Forklift
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware woman was struck and killed by a forklift on Monday.
The accident happened at Eastern Metal Recycling in New Castle on Monday morning just before noon, when an employee of Eastern Metal was using a Toyota gas-powered forklift to place a large metal container on the ground.
The employee reportedly got off of the forklift, and it started to roll backwards. Though the employee jumped back onto the machine in an attempt to stop it, the forklift continued to roll backwards.
Robin Godfrey, a 53-year-old from Wilmington, was pinned against the wall of a building by the rolling machinery. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
