Delaware Woman Critical After Fall From Pa. Trail
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Delaware woman remained hospitalized after falling about 30 feet over a cliff from the Appalachian Trail in eastern Pennsylvania.
Authorities say 38-year-old Lara Louise Kadambi, of Pike Creek, was in critical condition Sunday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. Hospital officials could not immediately update her condition Monday.
Kempton Deputy Fire Chief Dean Kniss says Kadambi had to be rescued from a section of the trail known as the Pinnacle, a rocky area not easily accessible by vehicles.
Authorities say Kadambi fell about 12:40 p.m. Saturday. Kniss says it took rescuers about 40 minutes to reach the woman and another 90 minutes to move her to a safety basket and onto a trail where a helicopter flew her to the hospital.
Kadambi was being treated for head injuries.
