Delaware Woman Charged In Salon Robbery
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware have arrested a woman after she allegedly robbed a hair salon Thursday afternoon.
The robbery took place in the 1700 block of Marsh Road at the Good Hair Days Salon in Wilmington a little before 4 p.m. Police say the suspect, Crystal Merritt of Claymont, entered the salon and requested a hair appointment, but shortly left the business supposedly to obtain some money.
When Merritt returned to the salon, she stated her boyfriend was in the car and was going to rob the place, according to police. The 54-year-old employee fled the scene but returned later only to find an undisclosed amount of cash removed from the register.
Detectives discovered that a witness observed Merritt leaving the scene in a silver Dodge Neon and was able to provide the license plate number.
On Friday, Wilmington Police apprehended Merritt after they conducted a traffic stop on her Dodge Neon on 4th and Broom streets. She was charged with first degree robbery and was admitted to the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institute on $10,000 secure bond.
