Delaware Valley Outage And Transit Update

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A few days after Hurricane Irene basically shutdown the Delaware Valley, the region is slowly getting back to normal. Here is a list of outage and transportation updates as of Tuesday morning.

Outages

PECO spokesman Ben Armstrong says 47,000 customers are still without power.

"PECO crews, along with local contractors and foreign utility crews, have been working together to restore service across the PECO service territory. So far, we've restored service to more than 450,000 customers by Tuesday morning," Armstrong said.

Armstrong says PECO customers without power should have it restored between tomorrow and the start of the holiday weekend on Friday.

PSE&G still has about 150,000 customer outage as of 3 a.m. They say they have restored over a half-million customers to normal service. The major roadblock has been flood waters and downed trees but they predict that everyone will be restored by the weekend.

Atlantic City Electric reports they still have 29,148 customer outages.

Transportation

SEPTA says aside from a few detours and delays, everything will be up and running today but the Trenton line will only go as far as Levittown.

Amtrak predicts normal service between Philadelphia and Washington and Philadelphia and Harrisburg but there will not be service between Philadelphia and New York City.

New Jersey Transit says bus and light rail service will operate on a regular weekday schedule. NJT trains will only operate between New Brunswick and New York City on an hourly basis.

Flooding between the Trenton Transit Center and New Brunswick means there is no NJT service into the Trenton area or Philadelphia. NJT says the Atlantic City line is operating on a normal weekday schedule

There are no major delays at Philadelphia International Airport, which is back to normal operations.
