Delaware Teacher Arrested After Pot Found In Car Parked Outside School
SEAFORD, Del. (CBS) -- A high school teacher in Delaware was arrested after police say marijuana was found in his car that was parked on school grounds.
Ryan A. Harris, 33, is facing charges after investigators say marijuana, a digital scale and a glass pipe were found in his car outside Seaford High School Monday afternoon.
According to investigators, the incident began when the Seaford School District requested police to conduct a search of the building and vehicles in the parking lot for drugs.
With assistance of school administrators, three Delaware State Police K9s and one Dover PD K9 performed the search.
While conducting a search in the south parking lot of the school, one of the K9s alerted its handler to the presence of drugs in a Jeep Liberty.
School administrators conducted a search of the car with the registered owner, Harris, present.
Delaware State Police said 20.8 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and a glass pipe used to smoke the marijuana were found in a bag inside Harris' car.
Harris was placed under arrest and was taken to the Seaford Police Department.
He was charged with Possession of Marijuana with an Aggravating Factor (School Zone) and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He was arraigned and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
