Delaware State Trooper Fires Shot During Contact With Thieves
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Delaware State Police say a trooper fired a shot during an incident with two alleged car thieves, but no one was hit.
Police say about 5 p.m. Wednesday, a trooper on patrol saw a car that had been reported stolen. She followed the car and it came to a stop.
Police say during her initial contact with the two thieves, the trooper fired her weapon, hitting the driver's side of the car.
Troopers say the suspects fled in the car, abandoned it and fled on foot. One suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was taken into custody; the other escaped.
The trooper, who sustained a minor injury, has been placed on administrative duty.
