Delaware Police Identify Man Killed In Highway Crash
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware state police have released the name of a man who was struck and killed while standing in the travel lanes of Interstate 495 in Wilmington.
Authorities on Sunday identified the pedestrian as 47-year-old John T. Davis of Wilmington.
Police say Davis was first struck by a tanker truck around 1:15 a.m. Saturday while standing in the northbound lanes of the highway. Then he was hit again by a sedan. He died at the scene.
Neither of the two drivers was injured. Police say they both stopped and were able to direct traffic around the accident.
It's not clear what Davis was doing in the highway.
