Todd Quinones reports
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A would-be Good Samaritan got an unexpected shock Wednesday afternoon when he attempted to help a man move a television on his block.
According to police in Delaware, a resident of the 1300 block of West 13th Street was on his way home for lunch and spotted a man struggling to carry a large flat-screen television. After asking the man if he needed help, he noticed that it was in fact his television and the door to his home was open.
The resident alerted police and gave chase of the suspect, later identified as Gary D. Hairston, 35, who fled into a waiting getaway vehicle driven by his accomplice, Andrea M. Johnson, 28.
Police stopped the pair moments later and while Johnson surrendered to police, Hairston made a run for it and was tasered after struggling with police.
Hairston, who was charged with Burglary and resisting arrest among other charges, was also found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants related to similar crimes. Johnson was charged with criminal conspiracy.
There is no information on bail at this time.
