Delaware Man Arrested For 5th DUI Offense
NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) – A New Castle man was arrested for his fifth DUI offense after a hit and run collision that occurred Sunday night.
According to New Castle Police, Stephen F. Callahan, 49, was charged with a fifth offense Felony Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving on a Suspended License, Leaving the Scene of an accident and other related traffic offenses.
Police were called to the scene of a hit and run on the unit block of E5th Street where a parked vehicle was struck at approximately 10:20 p.m. Sunday night. While en route, they were advised by dispatch that the owner of the struck vehicle was following the suspect vehicle.
Moments later, police caught up to the vehicle in the area of Route 9 near Bayview Manor and arrested the New Castle man for his fifth DUI arrest.
Callahan was committed to the Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $2503.00 cash bond pending a preliminary hearing.
