Delaware Man, 68, Charged With Killing Wife

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware arrested a man they allege murdered his wife inside their home.

Michael J. O'Donoghue, 68, is facing several charges in connection to the shooting death of his 67-year-old wife Nancy L. O'Donoghue.

According to investigators, Michael O'Donoghue called 911 at 3:51 a.m. on Monday. During the call, he requested the police and stated he had shot his wife.

O'Donoghue then surrendered to responding officers in the garage of his home.

Police say Nancy O'Donoghue was found in her bed with bullet wounds and a severe blunt force injury to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered a gun and a hatchet they believe were used in the crime.

Michael O'Donoghue has been charged with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. He is being held without bail.

The investigation into the motive is ongoing.
