Delaware Juvenile Probation Officer Arrested
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- A senior probation and parole officer for Delaware's children's department has been charged with burglary and assault in a January home invasion that left a 59-year-old Seaford woman injured.
State police said Friday that 50-year-old David S. Benson Jr. of Magnolia was arrested following a nine-month investigation in which detectives linked him to the incident through physical evidence from the scene.
Benson was being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $14,500 secured bail.
He is charged with burglary, assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, unlawful imprisonment and malicious interference with emergency communications.
A spokeswoman for the children's department said Benson has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
