Delaware County Man Arrested For Strangulation Death
CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Pa. (AP) -- Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a man charged in the strangulation death of another man over the weekend says he acted in self-defense.
Thirty-five-year-old Quy Van Pham of Clifton Heights is charged with criminal homicide, first- and third-degree murder, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person in the death of 51-year-old Thomas Hoban.
Authorities in Delaware County said in an arrest affidavit that the two men met on Saturday night at a Clifton Heights bar, and Pham went to Hoban's apartment, but he said a fight began after Hoban threatened to kill him. Police say Pham then called 911, but fell asleep, and later told a neighbor what had happened.
A message left at Pham's home was not returned immediately Monday; it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
