Delaware County Mall Now Home To Unique Dinosaur Exhibit
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you thought you could only see dinosaurs in museums and on the movie screens, think again: Starting on Saturday, you can now see them in a suburban Philadelphia mall.
The Granite Run Mall in Delaware County is now home to Dino Don's Dinosaurium, the first of its kind in a shopping mall in this region. It's the brainchild of Don Lessem, the owner of the country's largest private collection of dinosaurs and an advisor for the movie "Jurassic Park." Lessem calls it an interactive experience for kids and educational at the same time.
"They are the window into science for kids, and we all want our kids to be science educated. We want to teach them stuff that they don't want to learn about science...well, they want to learn about dinosaurs, this is what they want to know."
The 6500-square foot exhibit features a dozen rare dinosaurs that are up to thirty feet long, along with hands-on activities and of course, a gift shop. Lessem says the exhibits will change every three months to keep the experience fresh, and $1 from each admission ticket will be donated to schools in Delaware County.
