Del. Woman Arrested For Third DUI After Reportedly Setting Car On Fire
OCEAN VIEW, Del. (CBS) – Police have arrested a Delaware woman for her third DUI after she returned to the scene of a car fire she's believed to have set.
Around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15th, troopers assisted the State Fire Marshall's Office with securing the scene of a car fire thought to have been intentionally set at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 35083 East Atlantic Avenue.
Fifty-eight-year-old Doreen K. Bowman, of Ocean View, who was identified through surveillance footage as the suspect, was seen returning to the club, where she was stopped by a police officer securing the scene.
That trooper detected the odor of alcohol, and when he asked Bowman for her ID, she reportedly gave a false name.
Police were able to identify Bowman, who had a warrant out for Offensive Touching. She was ordered to exit the car, but instead drove it further into the parking lot before making a U-turn and attempting to leave the scene.
Police stopped Bowman and physically removed her from the car and placed her in custody.
Bowman was charged with 3rd Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Criminal Impersonation, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Have Insurance in Possession, Failure to Have License in Possession, and Offensive Touching. She was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in lieu of $3,351 secured bond.
Officials say Bowman's offensive touching charge stemmed from an Oct. 28th incident on Ashland Drive in Ocean View, when Bowman reportedly grabbed a 58-year-old woman and threw her to the ground during an argument.
Anyone with further information on the vehicle arson is asked to call police.
