Del. Teen Waiting For School Bus Killed By Car

WILMINGTON (CBS) -- A Wilmington teenager was struck and killed by a car Monday morning while waiting for his school bus.

Authorities say the John Dickinson High School student was standing on Old Baltimore Pike and Whitaker Road at about 7:05 a.m. when he was struck by an Acura TL driven by 21-year-old Malcolm DeShields of Newark.

The victim, identified as Bruce Mutter, 15, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

DeShields suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Christiana Hospital.

DeShields has been charged with one count of operation of a motor vehicle causing the death of another person. He was released from jail after posting $1,000 bail.

Authorities say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
