Del. Police Arrest Alleged Shoplifter

WILMINGTON (AP) -- Police in Delaware say they have arrested a woman for attempting to shoplift over $600 in merchandise from a Kmart in Wilmington.

Delaware police arrested 41-year-old Annette T. Shadding of Wilmington on Friday morning. According to police store security observed her stuffing toys, clothing and kids shoes into a bag she had brought with her. Shadding initially cooperated with store security when confronted. When a Delaware State Police trooper arrived, however, Shadding allegedly grabbed her purse from the trooper, punched and kicked him and also bit him.

Shadding is being held on $1,500 bond. A second, unidentified woman was with Shadding when she allegedly did the shoplifting and appears to have been serving as a lookout. Anyone with information can call Delaware State Police at (302) 633-5000.
