Del. Couple Convicted Of Child Abuse, Neglect Gets Lengthy Prison Sentence
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware couple convicted of child abuse and neglect has received a lengthy prison sentence.
Attorney General Beau Biden announced on Friday that Robert Hohn and Shannon Watterson, who reportedly locked their 12-year-old son in a bedroom for a three month period and failed to adequately feed him, were both sentenced to prison time.
Watterson received five years and one month in prison while Hohn was sentenced to six years and one month.
In addition, a judge ordered the couple to spend 10 days in solitary confinement each year beginning on Nov. 28th, the date of their arrest. The judge also ordered the pair to have no contact with the victim of the abuse or with the three other children living in the household during the time of the abuse.
"The lengthy sentences we sought and that were imposed upon these defendants today reflect the significant harm caused by child abuse and neglect and they send a clear message to child abusers that you will face significant consequences for your crimes," Biden said.
