Defying Critics, Christie Claims He's Rehabbing New Jersey's Image With TV Appearances

SOUTH RIVER, NJ (CBS) -- We've been seeing a lot of Chris Christie on entertainment TV of late. He's even making a sitcom appearance later this year.
But, you'll hear no apologies from the governor.
"I've never made my decisions based on what my detractors say, and I sure as heck am not going to start now," says Christie, alluding to comments made by State Senator Barbara Buono, the Democrat running against him who's said he cares more about his national profile than New Jersey.
Christie says he's concerned over the state's image problem on television, after 'The Sopranos,' the 'Real Housewives' " ... and, God forbid, the kids from the Jersey Shore."
Reality TV that's not reality NJ, he says.
"And to the extent that I could go out there and show a different side to our state -- especially now as we're trying to rebuild our state and attract more people to it -- I think that's a good thing," Christie says.
Christie will be on an episode of 'The Michael J. Fox Show' this fall.
