Defendant In Murder-For-Hire Case Looks For Lower Bail

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - An Abington businessman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill the man he believed was having an affair with his wife and two of his friends is headed back to court next week, looking for lower bail.
Paul Vangore argues his $25-million bail is "outrageous" and he'll be in court Wednesday trying to convince a Montgomery County judge to reduce it. The 47-year-old Rydal man is charged with solicitation to commit murder and kidnapping in connection with the alleged plot.
Defense attorney Francis Recchuiti says it's tantamount to no bail and violates the state constitution for these types of crimes, "We're not talking attempt; we're not talking conspiracy. We're talking solicitation. This is a solicitation to get near an attempt. I mean this is a cousin twice removed. It's an inchoate crime."
Prosecutors allege the three targets of the plot were former employees at a Subway store Vangore owned in Jenkintown. Recchuiti also wants the judge to dismiss the charges arguing prosecutors didn't present sufficient evidence at the preliminary hearing.
