MORRISVILLE, Pa. (CBS) - Police are investigating after a couple found a decomposed body in an abandoned lumber yard near the New Jersey border of Bucks County late Saturday afternoon.
Police say the couple was walking behind the abandoned Haddonfield Lumber in Morrisville, Pa. looking for mushrooms, when they found a tarp lying on the ground.
"They lifted the tarp and found a skeletalized body. They called 9-1-1 and we responded," Lt. Henry Ward tells CBS3 Eyewitness News.
Ward says the death looks suspicious:
"Along the railroad tracks we have a lot of homeless people, transients, etc. It just appears like some other factors we are not going to release right now, it seems suspicious like something other than someone laying down to go to sleep."
Police say they have few details on how the body ended up in the lumber yard, which has been abandoned for three years.
The DA's office is working with Falls Township Police to gather more evidence at the scene.
Officers say they will continue to investigate, with the hope of identifying the body.
