Deadly Start To 2013 In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was a deadly start to 2013 for Philadelphia.
Police are investigating multiple shootings that happened overnight.
The first homicide happened in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia shortly after midnight. Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in the 5600 block of Carpenter Street, possibly by another teen. There's no word on a motive or suspects.
The second shooting happened in Frankford, where a fight at the Bridge and Pratt Café spilled into the street and resulted in shots being fired, killing a 24-year-old man who was sitting in his home in the 1600 block of Pratt Street.
In Nicetown, police responded to reports of shots fired inside a residence in the 1700 block of West Venango Street. Inside, they found three gunshot victims. A 23-year-old man was transported to Temple with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead around 4 a.m. Two other men were also taken to the hospital.
All of the shootings remain under investigation.
