Deadly Police-Involved Shooting In North Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A deadly police-involved shooting in North Philadelphia is under investigation.
The incident happened at about 11 p.m. Monday night at 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue.
According to investigators, officers arrived at a gas station and saw a man on a bike shooting at a second person.
Police say the suspect then exchanged gunfire with officers.
"Police were right next to him in the gas station parking lot. 25th District officers fired several shots, struck the suspect two times in the torso," Small explained.
Small said officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, but he reportedly refused to do so.
The 25-year-old who was wounded by police was admitted to Temple University Hospital where he later died.
A second suspect, an accomplice, fled on foot and remains at-large.
