Elderly Woman Killed In Maple Shade Fire

MAPLE SHADE, NJ (CBS) -- Fire Investigators are still looking into what caused a deadly apartment fire at the Maple Terrace Apartments in Maple Shade Township, located in Burlington County.

"It doesn't appear to be suspicious," said Maple Shade Fire Chief Andrew Simonsick.

Fire crews say the fire started in apartment #57 and quickly spread to at least seven other units around 7:30 Sunday night.

The woman who died and lived in unit 57 was 82-year-old Angelina Constantine, police say.

The company that owns the building says every apartment is equipped with working smoke detectors.

According to police, the Red Cross did respond to the scene and set up at a triage housed in the neighboring Maple Shade 25 Club on Rudderow Avenue and did assist in providing temporary housing and food for residents as needed. Numerous surrounding Fire Departments and EMS crews assisted at the fire scene.
