DC Man Gets DUI Charge After Hitting Train In Delaware
BEAR, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say they've charged a man with driving under the influence of alcohol after he struck a Norfolk Southern train in Bear.
Police say 33-year-old Derrick Jones of Washington, D.C., hit the train around 3:16 a.m. Saturday. They say the crash happened in the area of Old Porter Road at Porter Road and that Jones' car became wedged under a tank of liquefied petroleum gas after he struck the train.
Jones was taken to a hospital by helicopter and was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in his 1994 Ford pickup was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.
Police say Jones was also charged with careless driving, disregarding a traffic control device and driving with expired tags.
