Day Two Of The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk For The Cure
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It is day two of the Susan G. Komen 3-day Walk for the Cure and hundreds of supporters greeted the walkers.
The sun was shining and there was a crisp fall breeze, a much better day for the 2,200 walkers than the rainy day one.
It was the second leg of their three day, 60 mile journey. Many supporters at City and Belmont Avenues where there to cheer, encourage and thank the walker in their lives as they passed by.
Man: "My wife is a two time survivor and she is walking today."
Woman: "I'm here to support some lovely ladies I met last year. I did the walk last year and wasn't able to do it this year and I'm just out here to give them all the support I can."
Girl: "Our teacher is doing the 3 day walk and we just wanted to support her because she's also our field hockey coach and we just wanted to let her know that we love her."
Each walker had to raise at least $2,300. The walk ends Sunday afternoon with a closing ceremony at the Navy Yard.
