Day After Christmas Means Another Busy Day For Shoppers And Retailers

CHERRY HILL, NJ (CBS) -- Monday was the day after Christmas. That meant shoppers were packing the malls, cashing in on post-holiday bargains and returning those gifts that weren't quite right.
The National Retail Federation estimates that ten percent of the $469-billion worth of merchandise bought this holiday season will be returned to stores.
At the Cherry Hill Mall, Eileen Hilley of Blackwood, New Jersey was bringing back some boots that didn't fit -- but she was still Christmas shopping, too.
"I'm actually getting late Christmas presents," said Eileen. "Better deals, you know!"
Stacey Loue of Haddonfield was there, as well, shopping with her daughter.
"She got her Uggs that she wanted," said Stacey. "And it took us five minutes. In and out of Nordstrom."
Reporter: "Santa didn't bring the Uggs?"
"No," she replied. "Santa brought the cash!"
Stacey said returning gifts will have to wait, and noted that she had some to return, too.
"We do, but I actually didn't bring them today," she said. "We just came to pick up the things that she wanted and the returns we'll do later."
Because Stacey has her priorities on this day when retailers were slashing prices 30, 40 and 50 percent.
"We have more to do," she added. "We have more money to spend!"
