Darby Police Chief Says City May Have "Dodged A Bullet" During Hurricane Sandy
By Tim Jimenez
DARBY, Pa. (CBS) - Darby Borough in Delaware County usually gets flooded during major weather events. Borough officials gave an update Monday evening.
Police Chief Robert Smythe says at one point, 1,600 people were without power. Over 100 homes had to be evacuated.
He says right now they're not expecting flooding.
"Gonna receive another inch or two of rain between now and 8 o'clock (Tuesday) morning. Our concern now is high winds. If we only receive another inch or two of rain, I don't expect to have any flooding at all in Darby Borough. Could change if we get four or five inches of rain."
Smythe says he feels like they "dodged a bullet" but "anything could happen in Darby Borough."
