Owners Take The Dance Floor With Their Dogs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are some dog owners that go beyond just playing with their pups. How about dancing with them?
It actually turns out that dogs can be pretty good dance partners.
In Darlene Chroniger's dance class, everybody moves to the music, whether you have two legs, or four.
"Never in a million years," Chroniger said when asked if she ever imagined that she would be teaching people how to dance with their dogs. "I must be out of mind. It is one of the funnest things I've ever done in my life" she added.
Canine freestyle is not a walk in the park. Each move takes practice for both the handler and their partner.
9-year-old Ruby is a veteran freestyler who does dozens of moves in every routine. The dogs don't always make for the most predictable partners.
"If you make a mistake, they will sometimes really let you know about that," Chroniger said.
This is a legitimate dog sport with ribbons and titles, but most say it isn't just about getting creative with your canine. Chroniger emphasized that it's all about the bond between human and dog on the dance floor.
