Dads Gather For Second Annual 'Just For Men' Education Classes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Fathers from all over Philadelphia met at the School Administration building on Saturday for a conference on male involvement in education.

The second annual "Just for Men" conference is designed to educate dads on how vital they are in their children's education and future.

Jim Scott, director of community engagement for the school district, says this cause is personal to him:

"Because with our young people, they're all on a path, whether they realize it or not, so we really need to get the community involved to save these lives -- turn these young men around."

Greg Logan is a concerned dad who worked in the prison system for 20 years and says he has seen first hand what happens to those who go down the wrong path:

"We're trying to figure out how we're going to get them guys off the street corner to give them the message of hope, that there's a better way."

Several workshops at the conference educated fathers on everything from study habits to nutrition.
