By Mike Dougherty
ARDMORE, Pa. (CBS) - Thousands Of dads and their kids celebrated Father's Day on the grounds of Merion Golf Club at the US Open.
It's safe to say none of them were more excited to be there than the Weavers.
Michael qualified for the Open as an amateur and made the cut after shooting 74 on both Thursday and Friday, setting up a dream scenario for him and his father, Bill.
"It was really cool," Michael said. "We had fun today and it was a great time. This is what I was hoping for, that he'll be able to caddy for me over the weekend. I knew he was going to caddy for me Thursday and Friday, but I was excited when I made the cut because I knew he would caddy for me on Father's Day. That meant a lot to both of us."

Bill had trouble containing his emotions when he talked about a day he describes as "surreal." He says throughout the tournament he kept reminding Mike about where they were and what they were doing:
"Couldn't be better. I told him before he teed off, there's no better Father's Day for me."
Bill adds he and his wife got Michael involved in golf just to give him something to do during the summer. It appears to have worked out pretty well.
